Springfield, IL, This position in the Office of Marketing, Communications and Engagement develops and executes publicity programs for the Office of Marketing and Communications with specialization in marketing account management, program coordination, social media and writing. In close collaboration with faculty, they create communications that distill complex scientific information into compelling language and formats appropriate for all stakeholder audiences ? alumni, donors, industry partners, government entities, and prospective high-achieving and underrepresented students. This position develops relationships with faculty in order to identify and investigate story leads, collaborates with faculty and conducts interviews to understand the interviewees? areas of expertise and the societal impact of their research, and tells clear and engaging stories. This individual will meet regularly with the Multidisciplinary Biomedical and Biological Science (MBBS) Graduate Program, Basic Science departments and the Associate Dean for Research, specifically including Population Science and Policy, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Biochemistry, and basic science units based in Carbondale. They facilitate communications needs, identify and develop creative marketing strategies, write and fully execute content development tactics, and represent departments/institutes at external events and meetings.
