INTERIM – Production Manager – Press Shop Gloucester Supporting an SME with their composite, polymers, machining and fabrication services to the aerospace, defence and rail sectors, we are seeking a departmental INTERIM Production Manager for a contract period of circa 6-months. The main focus is to ensure the successful integration of a composites press shop, which is being transferred from another group site located in Manchester. As an established business with a considerable history within their impregnation, machining and finishing services, this URGENT Production Manager position (reporting to the Head of Operations) will be responsible for a Press shop which is part of a 10M per annum business. Reports include 2 x shift leaders. Total employees in departments c. 30. Press department manufactures composite sheets and tubes though pressing process to bespoke sizes and quantities in accordance with schedules. The focus initially is delivering a site integration, working to receive and embed incoming press shop department transferring from Manchester to Gloucester Responsibilities: – Working with HR and your managers, interview, select, hire and onboard a manufacturing team, who have the right skills to support the site consolidation transfer. – Work with your opposite number in the Manchester site to successfully implement a knowledge capture/ skills transfer programme, in line with the project timeline. – Post transfer, bring the manufacturing processes back online in Gloucester, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity requirements/standards are met, as well as rapidly and effectively resolving (in coordination with the project team) any start-up issues to ensure continued on time customer supply. – Positively reinforcing group values which includes a safety-first culture. – Motivating, coaching, and embedding a new manufacturing team. – Travel to the Manchester site as required. As a Press Shop Production Manager, you will be generally responsible for: – Efficiently managing the production resources in keeping with the manufacturing facility requirements, ensuring the care and development of production employees. – Setting and delivering manufacturing goals and objectives in collaboration with the Manufacturing Manager. – Control of manufacturing resources to achieve maximum productivity and material utilisation within the requirements of the production schedule. – Management of manufacturing department employees to optimise their contribution to the overall manufacturing unit with particular emphasis on efficient individual and team working and development through excellent communication and training. – Ensure strict compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures with particular reference to health, safety and quality. – Ensure that the means of production are available e.g., by timely request of raw materials, equipment, consumable and services from relevant departments. – Work collaboratively with all internal departments e.g., HSE, Quality, Engineering, etc in order to ensure that production is not unduly delayed. – Ensure the highest level of housekeeping is maintained at all times. – Participate in developing Tenmat activities and workshops e.g., Working practices, equipment specifications, improvements in productivity and quality – Providing support, direction and training to employees to accomplish company goals and objectives and help our employees own personal development. – Conducting employee performance reviews and managing employee performance. – Champion the importance of H&S and quality throughout the business in everything that we do. – Ensuring that the plant is adequately resourced to expedite forecast workloads in a timely fashion within the confines of agreed annual budgets – Drive all elements of OEE within the department. – Leading change and integrating best practice – Fulfilling all relevant Operations duties and driving continuous improvement in collaboration with other members of the Operations team. – Carrying out any other reasonable duties that may be requested from time to time Person Specification: – Able to work as a member of a team, but also capable of working alone to tight deadlines in a high change environment – Must have previous experience in a similar Manufacturing Leadership role. – Experience of managing a 24/5 production facility. – Experience of managing teams through periods of change E.g., Fast growth, Site moves. – Proven track record within a fast pace, demanding manufacturing environment. – Excellent knowledge of CI / Six Sigma methodologies with proven track record of leading initiatives and teams. – Experience of managing both Production Operatives and Project & process Engineers.
