UWC2 has occasional opportunities for part-time instructors in the Global Business Certificate program. We are currently hiring for an Instructor to teach a portion of course #2 (estimated 2-3 weeks). This course is taught by a team of 3-4 marketing professionals. Instructors serve a key role in our program, engaging with students, serving as subject matter experts, presenting learning content, and assessing whether learners have achieved course competencies. Our students consistently tell us that the instructors are the single most important element of their course. The Global Business Certificate is a nine-month non-credit program for international students, professionals, and future business leaders, designed to help them quickly develop business skills, expertise, and big picture business strategies essential in the global workplace. The Global Business Certificate is offered as 10-week courses and align with the UW academic quarter calendar. Individual instructors teach onsite in Seattle for one to three weeks during each course. Instructors are typically assigned to just a single course: Quarter 1: Foundations of Global Business (Autumn and Spring) Quarter 2: Global Marketing (Winter and Summer) Quarter 3: Project Management (Autumn and Spring) Global Business Certificate Instructors… Work with the course’s Lead Instructor and other instructors (when relevant) to update course materials Provide current, engaging, and relevant instruction in their area of expertise to students entering the global business field Follow the provided grade rubric for consistency across instructors Submit a syllabus to the Lead Instructor and Program Manager by the deadline provided Attend all instructor meetings convened by the course’s Lead Instructor or Program Manager (can be attended remotely through Zoom or other available platform, if necessary) Upload course materials directly to the course Canvas page Mark daily attendance in course Canvas page Provide feedback to students on individual and team assignments Submit final module grades in Canvas by first Tuesday after week of instruction In addition, Instructors are expected to: Complete a one-time “Teaching at UW PCE” instructor training course in Canvas before teaching Be open to having a class observation by the Program Manager or Program Director upon request. Communicate promptly with the Program Manager and/or Lead Instructor regarding any issues of concern Be available to instruct course daily for 3 to 3.5 hours (15.5 hours a week total, except in the shorter summer quarter when class meets for 17.5 hours a week). Morning classes meet from 9:00-12:00 or 12:30, and afternoon classes meet from 1:00-4:00 or 4:30. Class times are determined by the Program Manager. UWC2 Extension Lecturers / Instructors are Academic Staff, not faculty. These are part-time, temporary positions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum five years of professional experience relevant to course #2 topics. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Ability, and desire, to successfully work with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Willingness to teach with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of professionalism, punctuality, and content relevance for diverse adult students. Legal authorization to work and receive compensation in the United States. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience using Canvas LMS for posting class materials and tracking attendance and submitting final grades Prior experience using Zoom or equivalent online meeting tools. Prior teaching or mentoring experience, particularly with international adult learners.
