Horizon Teachers are working with a lovely Primary School in Lewisham who are looking for an Academic Mentor to permanently join the school! The role will be starting in September so will be suitable for those who are looking for a fresh start for the next academic year! Academic mentors are members of staff who work alongside class teachers to provide a range of additional support interventions for pupils. The role in a school has been introduced to provide targeted and tailor made support for children who have been most affected by the disruption to their education caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic to help them reach full potential. Academic mentors will support with literacy, numeracy and science within Primary Schools. Responsibilities Working with Senior Leadership Team in the school to identify the support each pupil needs. Identify learning gaps and help create bespoke intervention programmes for pupils Developing and delivering engaging sessions with clear learning objectives, considering any barriers to learning or additional needs Delivering measurable outcomes from each session to track progress Requirements Minimum of three A-levels at A*-C grade (or equivalent) Minimum of a grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths at GCSE level Recent University Graduate (salary on upper scale if graduate) Enthusiastic, conscientious and motivated Friendly, approachable and hardworking Enhanced DBS on Update Service Please note, this is a permanent role.
