About the Position: The College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) is committed to educating engineers and computer scientists who will graduate with state-of-the art knowledge in their chosen field and are ready to embark on careers in industry and government, or proceed to acquire advanced degrees in their own or related fields. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Communications & Marketing Specialist (Administrative Analyst/Specialist-Exempt I). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness. Responsibilities include continued website continued development, management, and maintenance, external and internal communications, and graphic design. Serves as the lead for the creation of content for initiatives and new programs. Organizes, develops, and implements the ECS campaigns in print and online through digital media and other web sources to build the college’s presence and reputation. Writes, collects, and coordinates most of the copy for the ECS newsletter, utilizes social media, and develops marketing strategies to promote ECS to the campus and community. Works closely with the Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chairs and Program Coordinators, and provides communication support for ECS development efforts. Creates graphical maps, signage, and posters for special events. Oversees updating of existing website pages with new copy and graphics that highlights current events and opportunities. Other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs plus two years of related experience. Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with website development, management, marketing, and maintenance. Experience with design for print, design for email, and design for the web. Ability to stay abreast of current digital media trends and updates on available technology. Possession of excellent interpersonal communication skills. Ability to lead and participate in a collaborative dialogue to assess user needs and provide appropriate support. Possession of excellent writing skills as it pertains to the development of printed and digital media and other web-based content.
